JUBA LEE Ridgebacks started out with the meeting of our first
Ridgeback back in 1980. I immediately fell in love
with the breed and knew this was the dog for me. My
first Ridgeback was born in 1983 and JUBA LEE came
out of a combination of SA import Mpani and Kajongwe
lines. I lived on a ranch and the dogs became not
only our companions, but working dogs as well. Our
dogs could herd cattle, guard the goats, work the
shoots during branding and could go retrieve dove
and quail during hunting season. We believed in the
all around dog. I took those working lines and bred
with Top Conformation dogs from Oakhurst, Calico
Ridge, Kalahari and Kwetu. CH Oakhurst Vanna UA of
Juba Lee, ROM who I received from Barbara Rupert,
became my foundation, my rock. Vanna went on to
produce Specialty Winners, Top 10 dogs in
Conformation, Obedience and Lure Coursing. This
combination produced good minds, sound bodies and
the temperament needed for excellent companion and
family dogs. This is what JUBA LEE stands for
today. We have achieved a lot with our dogs and are
very proud to be the # 1 RRCUS Breeder for 5 years,
we have produced three Top 10 dogs in Conformation,
# 1 in Obedience and # 3 in Lure Coursing. It has
become more than just a ‘dog show’ for me. I have
met my best friends and I’ve enjoyed the
competition. I have thoroughly enjoyed the bond,
the love and the closeness that is shared with my
dogs. We travel together and enjoy the time we
spend competing all over the countryside from East
to West Coast.
We do stress the importance of Health and Genetics.
We health screen our dogs and they are certified
with OFA and MSU. We do follow RRCUS Code of Ethics
and we have been members in good standing for 20
years (since 1987). I have been a member and on
the Board of RTI (Ridgeback Trust Inc) and RRCUS
Ridgeback Rescue. I am also on the Education and
Mentor Committees for RRCUS. I am also President of
our local Ridgeback Club, TVRRCOT.
JUBA LEE puppies are raised in my home, not out in a
kennel. They learn all about the outdoors, are free
to use a doggie door and are socialized. We
strongly encourage puppy social and obedience
classes. Breeding and producing the best all around
Ridgeback is a lifelong commitment. Please visit,
read and check out our dogs. Any questions? Shoot
us an email and I’ll be happy to get back with you.
